As two non-profit organizations founded in 1966, our staff works to fulfill a mission to enhance the quality of life and economic success of Greater Kansas City by taking the lead in maintaining and selectively acquiring a diversity of amateur and professional sporting events; to collaborate with area economic development and agencies to attract and retain amateur and professional sports organizations; and to promote the lifetime benefits of sports for the citizens of Greater Kansas City.

We are supported by a dedicated Board of Directors and Emerging Leaders Advisory Board who are committed to making our community an overall better place to live, work and play.

POSITION ON TRANSGENDER ATHLETES IN SPORTS

The Kansas City Sports Commission believes in the power of sports through inclusion, and the benefits derived from participating in them. We believe that people who want to play sports should be allowed to do so in an environment that supports their gender identity, regardless of their sex assigned at birth.
